Unravelling the Trends of the Global Market! 2025−2026 Grand Design Concept: In Sync, In Step
2025/05/11

In these increasingly globalized modern times, strategic thinking that looks at both the overseas and the domestic market is absolutely essential when it comes to taking a project forward. As well as investigating and analyzing social trends, consumer thinking, and the current state of affairs in terms of spaces from a global perspective, TOPPAN utilizes the latest information obtained through our own network that includes overseas sources to consider and study new lifestyle and design trends. We have been disseminating “Grand Design Concept (GDC)” as a proposal that suggests the direction of future design.
In this edition of INSIGHT, we bring to you “In Sync, In Step” - the Grand Design Concept for 2025 to 2026.
“In Sync, In Step” Thought: The Thinking Required for the Times
The increasingly complex state of the world is having a major effect on the way people behave and think, and this is reflected in changes such as transformations in the way people live and work, and the appearance of new values. In the global spotlight in these circumstances is a new way of thinking that has brought a shift from the previous age, in which each individual or group aimed to achieve what they envisioned as being a bright future, to an age where communities as a whole will harmonize and evolve together through interaction going forward, and we are now seeing changes in peoples’ values. This new concept, known as “In Sync, In Step”, incorporates the ideas that:
The efforts and creativity of everyone are in sync with each other
New values are built by communities walking in step with each other
Built into it is the idea of aiming to build a borderless future in which there is harmony and mutual respect within a single community.
Based on this Grand Design Concept, we’ve set “Laid-back Futures” “Live in Harmony” and “Optimistic Creation” as themes from three keywords that are important to lifestyles: time, nature and digital. We have also selected the design concepts and theme colors that we at C-lab. believe will lead to a better future and better living. Here we will take a detailed look at each one.
Laid-back Futures
Laid-back Futures is concept based on the time line.
A sense of uncertainty toward the future caused by factors that include prolonged conflicts and economic slumps has led to an increasing number of opportunities to face up to our own identity rather than complying with oscillating social norms. This identity can be viewed as an accumulation of the time that we have each lived as an individual. As such, looking into our past can provide us with guideposts to help us envision a better future. Accepting oneself will serve as a solid basis for the growth of a mindset of respect for others, and by extension, the acceptance of diversity by society as whole. A mindset of consideration for others is something that is also present in the act of making something. Designs that unravel the time that people have woven together and approach the essence contain within them is somewhat emotional, and yet creative. Free and rich sensibilities will connect the past and future of someone, and accelerate the creation of new ideas.

Live in Harmony
Live in Harmony is a concept with a foundation of nature and the environment, but it also takes into consideration their relationship with technology and proposes a new way of coexistence.
The number of unprecedented and new points of contact we have with nature is growing, and our attachment to the natural environment is deepening through each of our own experiences. Attachment fosters responsibility, and an awareness of sustainability is now arguably the standard for the current times. In order to adapt to intensifying climate change and aim for a sustainable future, the way we face nature is changing on a daily basis. The joy we gain through nature, however, is unchanging and is irreplaceable. No matter how far the times advance, designs rooted in inspiration from nature will always bring a deep sense of comfort to people.

Optimistic Creation
Optimistic Creation is a concept founded on creativity that uses digital technology.
Through the development of culture, society, and technology, we have become able to see a multifaceted future. The number of people who find value in new experiences is growing with each passing year, and going forward, even more importance will be placed on this as a driving force for the creation of new ideas and perspectives. Our reality has already expanded to the online world through a new generation of technology. Rather than being a threat to us, AI and robots are our partners to make a better future a reality. The cutting-edge technology that you encounter today may already be commonplace in the future that is just around the corner. Positive energy that does not fear change will lead to the development of better living that offers even more comfort and enrichment.
